Hierapolis was a thriving Greco-Roman city built atop the Pamukkale hot springs, revered for their therapeutic properties. Today, visitors can explore well-preserved ruins including a massive theater with intricate reliefs, the remains of a Roman bath (now a museum), and one of the largest ancient cemeteries in Anatolia, with thousands of sarcophagi. The site offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient urban life and bathing culture, set against the stunning backdrop of the white terraces.

Don't miss

  • Climb the grand theater's seating for a view of the stage and the distant mountains.
  • Stroll through the necropolis, where elaborate tombs and sarcophagi line ancient roads.
  • Visit the Hierapolis Archaeology Museum, housed in the former Roman bath, to see statues and artifacts.
