Telmessos, the ancient Lycian city that once stood where Fethiye is today, left behind remarkable rock-cut tombs carved into the cliffs overlooking the modern town. The most famous is the Tomb of Amyntas, a grand Ionic facade dating to the 4th century BCE. Visitors can also explore the ruins of a small theatre and other scattered remains. The site provides a tangible connection to Lycian civilization, with the tombs offering particularly photogenic views across the bay. A short uphill walk rewards with both history and panorama.
