Asansör is a striking stone elevator tower built in 1907 by a Jewish philanthropist to connect the coastal neighborhood of Karataş with the hilltop district of Halil Rıfat Paşa. Today, it is one of Izmir's most beloved landmarks. Visitors can take the elevator to the top, where a chic café and terrace offer panoramic vistas of the city, the Gulf of Izmir, and the surrounding hills. The structure itself is a fine example of early 20th-century engineering, and the journey up is a unique way to experience the city's vertical geography.

Don't miss

  • Panoramic views of Izmir Bay from the rooftop café
  • Ride in the original elevator mechanism
  • Historic architecture blending stone and ironwork
