St. Giragos Armenian Church is a monumental cathedral in the heart of Diyarbakır's old city, originally built in the 13th century and rebuilt in the 19th century. After decades of neglect and damage, it underwent a comprehensive restoration completed in 2011, returning it to its former glory. The church features a large central dome, intricate stone carvings, and a spacious interior that can hold over 1,000 worshippers. Visitors can explore the sanctuary, view the restored frescoes and chandeliers, and learn about the Armenian community's history in the region through exhibits on-site.
