Vavaʻu, the northern island group of Tonga, is centered around a stunning labyrinth of natural harbors and sheltered coves. Visitors come to explore its pristine beaches, such as the popular Swallows Cave and the secluded 'Ano Beach, and to sail among the dozens of islands that dot the protected waters. The area is a premier destination for yachting, whale watching (July–October), and kayaking. The main access point is Neiafu, the group's hub, where travelers can charter boats or join guided tours to discover the marine-rich reefs and limestone cliffs.

Don't miss

  • Sail or kayak through the calm, sheltered waters of the Vavaʻu archipelago.
  • Snorkel at Swallows Cave, a sea cave with clear water and colorful fish.
