Wat Phrathat Doi Kong Mu is a Buddhist temple perched on a hill overlooking Mae Hong Son town. Visitors climb a staircase flanked by chinthe (mythical lions) to reach the main chedi, which offers sweeping views of the valley and surrounding mountains. The temple complex features two chedis built by different Shan rulers, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it ideal for reflection. Many come at sunset to watch the town lights twinkle below.

Don't miss

  • Climb the staircase lined with chinthe statues to the main chedi
  • Enjoy panoramic sunset views over Mae Hong Son and the valley
  • See the two distinct Shan-style chedis built by local rulers
