Ko Tao, meaning 'Turtle Island,' is a compact island in the Gulf of Thailand renowned for its exceptional scuba diving and snorkeling. The clear, warm waters teem with colorful coral gardens, reef sharks, turtles, and schools of tropical fish. Popular dive sites include Shark Bay, where blacktip reef sharks are often seen, and Ao Tanote, a serene bay with healthy coral formations. Visitors can take beginner courses or advanced dives, while non-divers enjoy snorkeling right from the beach. The island's laid-back atmosphere, palm-fringed beaches, and jungle-clad hills make it a perfect tropical getaway.
