Baan Dam Museum, also known as the Black House, is a sprawling complex of over 40 buildings created by late artist Thawan Duchanee. The dark, surreal structures are filled with eclectic collections of animal bones, skins, horns, and tribal artifacts, evoking a macabre yet fascinating atmosphere. Visitors wander through halls adorned with intricate woodcarvings, paintings, and sculptures that blend Buddhist and animist themes. The stark contrast of black teak buildings against the green landscape creates a hauntingly beautiful experience unlike any other in Thailand.
