Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon is one of Ayutthaya's most revered temples, known for its colossal 28-meter-long reclining Buddha draped in a golden robe. The temple's towering chedi, built in the 14th century, dominates the skyline and can be climbed for views over the historic park. The site exudes a calm, meditative vibe, with fewer crowds than other major ruins. Visitors often walk around the chedi's base, ringed with Buddha statues, and pay respects at the reclining figure. The temple remains an active monastery, adding a living spiritual dimension to the ancient ruins.
