Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the most sacred temple in the Ayutthaya Kingdom, located within the royal palace grounds. Its three distinctive bell-shaped chedis, built to enshrine the ashes of three kings, dominate the skyline. Visitors can walk among the restored stupas and see the remains of the former viharn (assembly hall). The temple's elevated platform offers panoramic views of the surrounding historical park. Unlike other temples, this site was reserved for royal ceremonies and housed a famous 16-meter standing Buddha image, now destroyed.

Don't miss

  • Admire the three restored chedis, each representing a different Ayutthaya king.
  • Climb the platform for a view over the historical park and nearby temples.
  • Explore the foundations of the former royal palace adjacent to the temple.
