Wat Lokayasutharam is a Buddhist temple in the Ayutthaya Historical Park, best known for its enormous reclining Buddha statue that stretches 42 meters in length. The image, made of brick and plaster, lies in the open air, creating a peaceful tableau against the backdrop of crumbling chedis and ancient walls. Visitors can walk the length of the statue, appreciating its scale and the quiet dignity of the site. Unlike many other temples in the park, this one feels less crowded, allowing for reflective exploration of the grounds and the surrounding ruins that evoke the former glory of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.
Don't miss
- The 42-meter reclining Buddha statue, one of the largest in Thailand
- The atmospheric ruins of the temple's former ordination hall and chedis
- Peaceful setting ideal for photography and quiet contemplation
