The National Center for Traditional Arts is a sprawling cultural park in Yilan that preserves and promotes Taiwanese folk arts. Visitors can explore traditional architecture, watch artisans at work, such as woodcarving, weaving, and pottery, and enjoy live performances of opera, puppetry, and music. The center's distinctive feature is its immersive, hands-on approach, allowing guests to try crafts themselves. Strolling through the park, you'll encounter historic buildings relocated from across Taiwan, creating a living museum of the island's heritage.

Don't miss

  • Watch a live glove puppetry (布袋戲) performance in the dedicated theater.
  • Try your hand at traditional dyeing or papermaking in the craft workshops.
  • Wander through the recreated old street with shops selling handmade souvenirs.
