Jincheng Civil Defense Tunnel is a 1.5-kilometer-long underground passage carved under the heart of Kinmen's capital. Originally built in the 1970s as a bomb shelter and troop movement route, it now serves as a unique tourist attraction. Visitors walk through dimly lit, narrow corridors lined with exposed rock and concrete, passing by small rooms that once housed command posts and medical stations. The tunnel's cool, damp atmosphere and echoing footsteps evoke the tension of the Cold War era, offering a visceral glimpse into the island's defensive past.
Don't miss
- Walk the full length of the tunnel to experience its claustrophobic yet historically charged environment.
