Cape Maobitou juts into the Taiwan Strait on the southern tip of Taiwan, offering visitors a striking landscape of eroded coral reefs and a classic white lighthouse. The cape's name means 'cat's nose' in Chinese, referencing its shape from certain angles. Visitors can walk along cliffside paths, watch waves crash against the rocks, and enjoy panoramic ocean vistas. The lighthouse, built during the Japanese era, remains an active navigational aid and a popular photo spot. It's a serene place to appreciate the raw power of the sea and the unique geology of the Hengchun Peninsula.
Don't miss
- Climb to the base of the historic Maobitou Lighthouse for unobstructed sea views.
- Explore the jagged coral rock formations shaped by wind and waves over millennia.
- Scan the horizon for passing ships and seabirds from the cape's observation points.
