Paradeplatz is the bustling epicenter of Zurich's banking world, a large square where the city's financial power is on full display. Flanked by the imposing headquarters of UBS and the former Credit Suisse (now part of UBS), the square exudes an air of prosperity and order. Despite its serious financial role, Paradeplatz is also a lively public space. Trams crisscross the square, and pedestrians stream between the Bahnhofstrasse shopping street and the historic lanes of the old town. At the center, a modern fountain provides a gathering spot, and the surrounding buildings house luxury shops, cafés, and the famous Confiserie Sprüngli, where you can enjoy a coffee and a slice of cake while watching the financial elite go about their day. The square's name dates back to military parades held here in the 18th century. Today, it's a place where tradition and modernity meet, and it serves as a key orientation point for visitors exploring central Zurich. The atmosphere is particularly vibrant during the annual Street Parade or Christmas markets.

  • Tram watching: the square is a major hub for Zurich's efficient tram network.
