Fraumünster, meaning 'Women's Minster,' is a former abbey church in Zurich's old town, known for its serene atmosphere and remarkable art. The church's main draw is the set of five stained-glass windows created by Marc Chagall in 1970, which depict biblical scenes in vibrant blues, reds, and greens. The choir windows, added in 1978, are also by Chagall and feature a rich palette. Visitors can admire these masterpieces up close, as the church is open for quiet contemplation and guided tours. The Romanesque choir and Gothic nave add to the architectural appeal, while the slender spire is a recognizable part of Zurich's skyline. Located near the Limmat River, Fraumünster offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city streets.
