Theodul Pass, also known as Col du Théodule, is a high mountain pass straddling the border between Switzerland and Italy at an elevation of 3,295 meters. Historically, it served as a crucial trade route for merchants and armies crossing the Alps, and today it is a popular destination for skiers and hikers. In summer, the pass is part of the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise ski area, offering skiing on the Theodul Glacier even in July and August. Visitors can reach the pass via cable car from Zermatt to Klein Matterhorn, then a short walk or ski. The pass itself is a rocky saddle with sweeping views of the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, and the Italian Alps. A small chapel, the Madonna delle Nevi, stands on the Italian side, and a border marker indicates the frontier. The area is also a starting point for the Haute Route ski tour and the Tour of Monte Rosa.
