Wengen is a charming car-free village perched on a sunny terrace above the Lauterbrunnen Valley in the Bernese Alps. Accessible only by train, it offers a tranquil escape with traditional Swiss chalets, flower-bedecked balconies, and stunning views of the Jungfrau massif. The village is a popular base for both summer hiking and winter skiing, with direct access to the Jungfrau Ski Region via the Männlichen cable car and the Wengen–Kleine Scheidegg railway. In summer, trails lead to alpine meadows, waterfalls, and viewpoints. The main street is lined with shops, restaurants, and hotels, all without the noise of cars. Wengen also hosts the annual Lauberhorn ski races, one of the most famous World Cup events. Its relaxed atmosphere and breathtaking scenery make it a favorite among travelers seeking an authentic Alpine experience.
