The Schynige Platte Railway is a classic cogwheel train that departs from Wilderswil and climbs steeply to the Schynige Platte summit at 1,967 meters. The journey takes about an hour, winding through forests and alpine meadows with ever-expanding views of the Jungfrau, Eiger, and Mönch peaks. At the top, visitors are greeted by a high-altitude plateau with a hotel, restaurant, and the renowned Alpine Garden, which showcases over 600 species of native plants. The area is a paradise for hikers, with trails leading to viewpoints like the Daube and offering panoramic vistas of the Bernese Oberland. The railway itself is a heritage operation, with vintage carriages that add to the nostalgic experience.
