Staubbach Falls is a breathtaking natural spectacle in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, near Wengen. Plunging 297 meters (974 feet) from an overhanging cliff, it is one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Europe. The water cascades in a fine, misty spray, often catching rainbows on sunny days. Visitors can view the falls from the village of Lauterbrunnen or take a short walk to the base, where the cool mist provides a refreshing break. The waterfall is especially dramatic in spring and early summer when snowmelt swells the flow. At night, the falls are sometimes illuminated, creating a magical glow against the dark cliff. The surrounding valley, dotted with other waterfalls and traditional Swiss chalets, adds to the fairy-tale atmosphere. A path leads behind the falls for a unique perspective, though the spray can be heavy.
