Pierre Avoi

Pierre Avoi is a distinctive mountain peak near Verbier, rising to 2,473 meters. Its summit is crowned with a large cross, visible from the valley. The hike to the top is a classic for fit walkers, starting from the village of Sembrancher or from the Le Châble cable car. The trail climbs steeply through forests and rocky terrain, with some exposed sections requiring sure-footedness. At the summit, hikers are rewarded with panoramic views of the Grand Combin, Mont Blanc, and the Rhône Valley. The peak is less crowded than nearby Mont Fort, offering a more solitary alpine experience. What makes Pierre Avoi special is its iconic shape and the sense of achievement from the ascent. It's a favorite for sunrise or sunset hikes when the light paints the mountains gold.
