Built in the 12th century by the Dukes of Zähringen, this imposing fortress now houses the Thun Castle Museum, which traces the region's history from prehistoric times to the 19th century. Visitors can climb the tower for a breathtaking 360-degree view of the old town, the Aare River, and the Bernese Alps. Inside, the museum's exhibits include medieval armor, stained glass, and a recreated knight's hall. The castle's courtyard and gardens offer a peaceful spot to rest. The castle is a short walk from Thun train station, making it an easy day trip from Spiez.
