Lake Silvaplana is one of the largest lakes in the Engadin region, stretching over 3 kilometers in length. Its deep blue waters are set against a dramatic backdrop of the Corvatsch and Bernina mountain ranges, making it a photographer's dream. The lake is renowned for its consistent thermal winds, which attract windsurfers and sailors from around the world, especially during summer afternoons. A well-maintained path encircles the lake, offering a flat, accessible route for walking, jogging, or cycling. Along the way, you'll pass small beaches, picnic spots, and the historic Lej da Silvaplauna. In winter, the frozen lake becomes a natural ice skating rink and a venue for horse-drawn sleigh rides. The nearby village of Silvaplana provides amenities like restaurants and bike rentals, making it easy to spend a full day enjoying the alpine scenery.

Don't miss

  • Windsurf or sail on the lake's reliable afternoon winds
  • Walk or cycle the 8.5 km loop trail around the lake
  • Picnic on the grassy shores with views of Piz Corvatsch
  • Visit in winter for ice skating and sleigh rides on the frozen lake
