Schiffenensee is a man-made reservoir stretching between Murten and Fribourg, created by damming the Saane/Sarine River. Its calm, turquoise waters and rolling green hills make it a favorite spot for water sports enthusiasts. Visitors can rent sailboats or windsurfing gear at the lake's small marina, or simply relax on the grassy banks. The surrounding trails offer easy to moderate hikes with panoramic views of the lake and the distant Alps.
