The Schilthorn is a striking 2,970-meter (9,744-foot) peak in the Bernese Alps, offering one of the most spectacular panoramic views in Switzerland. From its summit, you can see the famous trio of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, as well as over 200 other peaks stretching from Mont Blanc to the Black Forest. The journey to the top is an adventure in itself, starting with a cable car ride from the car-free village of Mürren. The cable car ascends in stages, passing through intermediate stations at Birg and Gimmelwald, with each leg offering increasingly dramatic vistas. At the summit, the viewing platform provides an unobstructed 360-degree panorama, and on clear days, you can even see the Matterhorn in the distance. The Schilthorn is also a popular spot for paragliding and hiking, with trails leading down from the summit in summer. The experience is less crowded than Jungfraujoch, making it a more relaxed alternative for those seeking stunning Alpine views without the high-altitude crowds.

Don't miss

  • 360-degree panoramic view of Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau, and over 200 peaks
  • James Bond World exhibition at the summit
  • Birg – an intermediate station with a thrilling cliff walk and viewing platform
  • Paragliding from the summit (seasonal)
  • Sunrise or sunset visits for spectacular light shows
