Engstligenalp is a high-altitude plateau in the Bernese Alps, located above the spa town of Leukerbad. Reached by a scenic cable car ride, the area is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. The plateau is a flat, green expanse surrounded by rugged peaks, including the Wildstrubel massif. Visitors can explore well-marked trails that lead through flower-filled meadows in summer, with views of waterfalls and the glacier-carved landscape. The Engstligenalp is also known for its traditional alpine huts where you can sample local cheese and dairy products. In winter, the area transforms into a snowy playground for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The cable car operates year-round, providing access to a unique high-alpine environment that feels remote yet is easily reachable from Leukerbad. The plateau's distinctive feature is its expansive, level terrain at over 2,000 meters, making it ideal for leisurely walks and family outings.
