The Schynige Platte Railway is a historic cogwheel railway that climbs from Wilderswil to the Schynige Platte summit. Operating since 1893, the railway is a marvel of engineering, ascending steep gradients through forests and alpine meadows. The journey takes about 50 minutes, offering ever-expanding views of Lake Brienz, Interlaken, and the Jungfrau mountains. The vintage carriages add a nostalgic charm. At the top, passengers can explore the Alpine Garden, hike the trails, or simply enjoy the panorama. The railway operates seasonally from late spring to autumn, and it's advisable to book tickets in advance during peak times.
