Mönch is a 4,107-meter peak in the Bernese Alps, standing between the Jungfrau and Eiger, forming a iconic trio that dominates the skyline above Grindelwald. Its name means 'monk' in German, and it is often climbed as part of the Jungfrau region's classic routes, including the famous Jungfrau Marathon trail. The mountain is characterized by its snowy summit and steep north face, which offers challenging climbs for experienced mountaineers. For visitors, the Mönch is best viewed from the Jungfraujoch railway station, the highest in Europe, or from hiking trails around Kleine Scheidegg. The sight of the Mönch against the blue sky is unforgettable, and its presence adds to the grandeur of the region. The mountain also has a rich history in alpinism, with the first ascent in 1857.
