Faulhorn is a prominent peak in the Bernese Oberland, rising to 2,681 meters above sea level. Its summit is famous for the historic Faulhorn Hotel, one of the oldest mountain hotels in Switzerland, built in 1830. The hike to the top is a classic alpine trek, starting from the Schynige Platte or the First gondola station above Grindelwald. The trail traverses the ridge of the Schwarzhorn and offers breathtaking views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, as well as Lake Brienz and Lake Thun. The summit hotel provides simple accommodation and hearty meals, making it a popular overnight stop for hikers. The panoramic view from the top is considered one of the finest in the region, especially at sunrise or sunset.
