The Marzili Funicular (Marzilibahn) is a charming, short funicular railway that descends from the city center near the Federal Palace to the Marzili district along the Aare river. It is one of the shortest public funiculars in Europe, covering a distance of just 105 meters with a gradient of up to 30%. The ride takes about one minute and offers views of the river and the Old City. At the bottom, you'll find the Marzili outdoor swimming pool, a lido with river access, and a popular sunbathing lawn. The funicular is a convenient way to reach the river for swimming or relaxing.
