Monte Verità

Monte Verità, or 'Hill of Truth,' is a serene hilltop just above Ascona that was home to a famous alternative community in the early 1900s. Today, it is a cultural and natural landmark featuring a museum, a park, and hiking trails. The museum, housed in the original buildings of the community, tells the story of the utopian settlers who embraced vegetarianism, nudism, and spiritual exploration, attracting artists, writers, and philosophers such as Hermann Hesse and Carl Jung. Visitors can explore the museum's exhibits on the community's history, as well as the surrounding park, which includes a tea house, a meditation path, and terraced gardens with panoramic views of Lake Maggiore. The hill is also a starting point for several hiking trails that wind through chestnut forests and offer stunning vistas.
