The Langwieser Viaduct is a striking stone arch bridge that carries the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) over the Plessur River near the village of Langwies, just outside Arosa. Completed in 1914, this 284-meter-long viaduct is one of the most impressive engineering feats on the line, soaring 62 meters above the valley floor. Visitors can view the viaduct from below on a walking path or ride the train across it for a thrilling perspective. The structure's graceful arches blend harmoniously with the surrounding alpine landscape, making it a favorite subject for photographers. In winter, the viaduct is often dusted with snow, creating a fairy-tale scene. The best views are from the hiking trail that descends from Langwies station or from the road bridge nearby.

Don't miss

  • Walk the trail beneath the viaduct for a dramatic upward view of the arches
  • Ride the RhB train across the viaduct for a unique perspective
  • Photograph the viaduct from the nearby road bridge at golden hour
  • Visit in autumn when the larch trees turn golden around the structure
  • Combine with a hike along the Plessur river gorge
