Rising to 2,961 meters (9,715 feet), Gemsstock is the iconic mountain overlooking Andermatt. A cable car whisks visitors from the village to the summit in about 10 minutes, revealing a high-alpine world of rugged peaks, glaciers, and sweeping views. In winter, Gemsstock is a paradise for advanced skiers and snowboarders, with steep couloirs, off-piste routes, and the famous 'Gemsstock Run', a challenging descent back to Andermatt. The area is known for its deep powder and long season, often lasting into May. In summer, the summit serves as a starting point for breathtaking hikes, including the traverse to the Gurschen glacier and the panoramic trail along the ridge. The Gemsstock cable car also operates for sightseers, offering a quick way to experience the alpine grandeur without strenuous effort.

Don't miss

  • Ride the cable car to the summit for 360-degree views of the Alps
  • Ski the legendary Gemsstock Run (expert level)
