Gross Lohner, or 'Big Lohner,' is the highest peak in the Lohner massif, dominating the skyline above Adelboden. Its imposing limestone cliffs and rugged ridges attract both experienced climbers and determined hikers. The most common route involves a challenging hike with some exposed scrambling, offering dramatic views of the surrounding peaks, including the Jungfrau region and the Wildstrubel. The summit provides a 360-degree panorama of the Bernese Alps, with deep valleys and glacial cirques below. Gross Lohner is less crowded than some other Swiss peaks, offering a sense of wilderness and adventure. The mountain is also a habitat for alpine wildlife, such as marmots and golden eagles.
