Gammelstad Church Town is a remarkably preserved UNESCO World Heritage site centered on a 15th-century stone church. Surrounding it are over 400 small wooden cottages, once used by parishioners traveling long distances for Sunday services. Visitors can explore the narrow lanes, step inside the church with its medieval frescoes, and tour a few cottages furnished as they would have been in the 19th century. It offers a unique glimpse into northern Swedish religious and rural life.
