Pidurutalagala, also known as Mount Pedro, is the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka, rising to 2,524 meters near Nuwara Eliya. The summit is home to a military base and radar station, so access is generally restricted, but the surrounding slopes offer excellent hiking opportunities through cloud forests and grasslands. Hikers can enjoy sweeping views of the central highlands, tea estates, and on clear days, even the coast. The area is rich in biodiversity, with endemic flora and birdlife.

Don't miss

  • Hike through montane cloud forests and grasslands on the lower slopes.
  • Spot endemic birds like the Sri Lanka white-eye and yellow-eared bulbul.
  • Take in panoramic views of the central highlands from viewpoints along the trail.
