Dondra Head Lighthouse stands 49 meters tall at the southernmost point of Sri Lanka, a striking white tower built in 1890 by the British. Visitors can climb the spiral staircase to the top for panoramic ocean vistas, watch waves crash against the rocky shore, and explore the surrounding grounds. The lighthouse remains active, guiding ships through busy shipping lanes, and its isolated location provides a peaceful escape with fresh sea breezes.

Don't miss

  • Climb to the top for 360-degree views of the Indian Ocean and coastline
  • Photograph the classic white lighthouse against the blue sky and sea
  • Walk along the rocky shoreline and watch fishing boats pass by
