Kandy Lake, also known as Kiri Muhuda (Sea of Milk), is a man-made lake constructed by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1807. The lake is surrounded by a stone wall and a walking path, popular for evening strolls. At its center lies a small island with a bathing pavilion, once used by the king's harem. The lake offers picturesque views of the Temple of the Tooth and the surrounding hills. Benches and shade trees make it a relaxing spot to watch local life and feed the fish.

Don't miss

  • Walk the full perimeter path for changing views of the temple and hills
  • Spot the small island pavilion and the white balustrade bridge
  • Relax on benches under the trees and watch the sunset over the lake
