Galle Fort is a living monument to Sri Lanka's colonial past, built by the Dutch in the 1600s. Visitors walk along massive stone ramparts that encircle the peninsula, offering stunning ocean vistas and a glimpse into history. Inside the fort, cobblestone streets are lined with Dutch-era houses, boutique shops, cafes, and museums. The iconic lighthouse and clock tower are focal points. It's a place where heritage meets daily life, locals live and work within the walls, giving the fort a vibrant, authentic atmosphere.
