The Mosque of Cristo de la Luz is one of Toledo's most evocative landmarks, a small 10th-century Islamic prayer hall that miraculously survived the Reconquista. Its exterior is unassuming, but inside, nine horseshoe arches create a forest of columns supporting a ribbed dome. The space is intimate, with soft light filtering through small windows. After the Christian conquest, a Gothic apse was added, blending Mudéjar and Romanesque elements. Visitors can climb to the upper gallery for views over the city. The mosque's name derives from a legend that a hidden lamp illuminated a crucifix when the Christians entered. Today, it stands as a serene symbol of Toledo's multicultural heritage.
