The María Cristina Bridge is a beautiful Beaux-Arts style bridge that spans the Urumea River, connecting the city center with the Estación del Norte railway station. Built between 1904 and 1905, it was designed by engineers José de Echegaray and Francisco de las Rivas, with decorative elements by sculptor Agustín Querol. The bridge features three elegant arches, ornate stone balustrades, and four large obelisks topped with allegorical statues representing Commerce, Industry, Navigation, and Agriculture. At night, the bridge is lit by decorative lamps, creating a romantic atmosphere. Walking across the bridge offers views of the river, the Kursaal, and the surrounding architecture. It is a favorite spot for photographers and a key part of the city's Belle Époque heritage.
