St Nicholas' Church (Iglesia de San Nicolás) stands as a unique blend of religious architecture and military fortification. Built in the 12th century in Gothic style, its thick walls, crenellations, and two sturdy towers give it the appearance of a castle. This design was intentional: during the Middle Ages, the church served as a stronghold for the town's inhabitants during conflicts. Inside, the church is surprisingly spacious, with a single nave, ribbed vaults, and a beautiful altarpiece. The atmosphere is serene, with filtered light from stained-glass windows. Located in the heart of the old town, it's a short walk from the City Hall Square and the cathedral. Visitors often remark on its dual identity as both a place of worship and a historical monument. The church is still active, hosting regular Masses and occasional concerts.
