The Eastern Biniac naveta is a striking megalithic tomb located near Mahon, Menorca. This stone structure, shaped like an overturned boat, is a classic example of a naveta, a type of collective burial monument unique to the Balearic Islands. Built during the Talayotic period (c. 1500–800 BC), it consists of a rectangular chamber with a corbelled roof, accessed via a low entrance. The site is well-preserved, allowing visitors to see the original dry-stone construction and imagine the funerary rituals of the ancient Menorcans. What makes the Eastern Biniac naveta distinctive is its size and the clarity of its form, set in a peaceful rural landscape. You'll see the massive stone slabs forming the walls and roof, and you can peer inside the chamber. Informational signs provide context about the Talayotic culture and the naveta's function.
