Plaiaundi is a restored coastal wetland and ecological park situated at the mouth of the Bidasoa River, just outside Hondarribia. The park features a network of wooden boardwalks and trails that meander through salt marshes, lagoons, and reed beds, providing excellent opportunities for birdwatching. Visitors can observe a variety of migratory and resident birds, including herons, ducks, and waders, from strategically placed hides. The site is distinctive for its role in flood control and habitat restoration, blending nature conservation with public recreation. Interpretive panels explain the ecology and history of the area.

  • Birdwatching from hides overlooking the main lagoon, especially during migration seasons
  • Walking the boardwalk trail through salt marshes and along the Bidasoa estuary
