Granada Cathedral, officially the Cathedral of the Incarnation, is a masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture. Built on the site of the city's main mosque after the Reconquista, its construction began in 1523 and took over 180 years to complete. The exterior is imposing, with a grand façade and twin towers, though only one was finished. Inside, the cathedral is a vast space filled with light, thanks to its large windows and white stone. The main chapel features a stunning altarpiece and a royal chapel where the Catholic Monarchs, Isabella and Ferdinand, are buried. The cathedral's dome and vaulted ceilings are adorned with intricate carvings and paintings. A visit here offers a glimpse into Granada's Christian heritage and the artistic achievements of the Renaissance.
