The Generalife is a serene complex of gardens and summer palaces that served as a rural retreat for the Nasrid rulers of Granada. Located just east of the Alhambra, it is connected by a walkway and often visited together. The gardens are a masterpiece of Islamic landscape design, with terraced levels, flowing water channels, and lush vegetation. The Patio de la Acequia is the centerpiece, featuring a long pool flanked by flowerbeds and fountains. The Patio del Ciprés de la Sultana offers a more intimate setting with cypress trees and a central fountain. The Generalife also provides stunning views of the Alhambra and the Albaicín neighborhood. A visit here is a tranquil escape from the crowds, perfect for leisurely strolls and photography.
