The Convento de Santa Clara was founded in the 15th century and remains an active convent of the Order of Saint Clare. Its church is a fine example of Gothic-Mudéjar architecture, with a wooden coffered ceiling and a gilded altarpiece. Visitors can enter the church and, at certain times, the cloister, which is a quiet oasis with orange trees and a central fountain. The nuns still produce and sell traditional sweets, such as yemas and pastries, through a turnstile. The convent's location on a hill offers views over the rooftops of Carmona.
