The Santa Cueva de Covadonga is a natural cave carved into a cliff, revered as the site where the Virgin Mary appeared to Pelagius in 722, leading to the Christian victory at Covadonga. Inside, a small chapel enshrines the wooden statue of Our Lady of Covadonga, the patron saint of Asturias. Pilgrims and visitors climb the steps to the cave, where they can light candles, pray, and take in the spiritual atmosphere. The cave's location, with a waterfall cascading nearby, adds to its mystical feel.
