Casa Batlló is a whimsical townhouse that seems to have grown organically from the earth. Its facade, covered in trencadís of blue, green, and gold ceramic shards, ripples like water, while the balconies resemble skulls or masks, hence its nickname, the House of Bones. Inside, every detail is curved: the staircase flows like a spine, the main hall's ceiling swirls like a whirlpool, and the light well is tiled in shades of blue that deepen as you ascend, ensuring even light distribution. The rooftop is crowned by a scaly, dragon-like ridge, often said to represent the back of a dragon slain by Saint George, Catalonia's patron saint. The attic's parabolic arches evoke a rib cage. An augmented reality guide brings the house to life, showing Gaudí's original furniture and the building's evolution. It's a playful, immersive experience that showcases Gaudí's genius for blending structure with fantasy.
