The Holy Chapel of the Savior (Sacra Capilla del Salvador) in Úbeda is a jewel of Spanish Renaissance architecture, commissioned by the powerful secretary of Emperor Charles V. Its exterior is a showcase of Plateresque detail, but the interior is even more stunning, with a gilded altarpiece, a remarkable dome, and the famous sculpture of the Transfiguration of Christ (El Salvador) by Alonso Berruguete. The chapel's sacristy and courtyard add to the sense of opulence. Visiting here provides a vivid glimpse into the wealth and artistry of 16th-century Spain.
